dragonarium
Dragonarium is a tile-placement game with drafting and resource management elements. Players are welcomed into the Imperial Hatchery to construct the ideal dragon-arium. While placing tiles to make connected domains, make full use of elements circling the player board — an innovative resource mechanism — to breathe life into your dragons.
The game is played over twelve rounds. Each player drafts a tile with one or two land types, placing it to build their dragonarium out...and up! Then choose one of the land types just placed to activate an element token (fire, water, wind, and light) circling the player board. As the token passes by a row or column, it provides the energy needed to hatch the dragons found on placed tiles.
Once ready to hatch, place a tile on top, releasing it into the dragonarium. The land where the dragon nests, however, allows players to further connect domains as the tile now shares the element of the placed dragon. Aside from being a robust (more traditional) spatial puzzle, Dragonarium challenges your timing for when and where to release your dragons so as to interweave their domains.

תקציר החוקים
Objective
Take on the role of an imperial hatchery official and build the most magnificent Dragonarium. Collect territory tiles, strategically place them outwards and upwards, and use the elements of fire, water, and air to hatch dragons. The player with the most valuable domains and dragons after 12 rounds wins.
Card & Tile Reference
- Territory Tiles: Each tile consists of two squares of the types fire (red), water (blue), air (green), or royal (gold).
- Dragon Eggs: Depicted on tiles. They require element stones to be placed on them to hatch.
- Dragons: Once hatched, a dragon nests on a square. That square now counts as having two types: the original square type AND the dragon's type.
- Pillar Tiles: Used as supports to place territory tiles flat on higher levels.
Gameplay
The game lasts 12 rounds. Each round consists of player turns and replenishing the planning site. A turn includes three steps:
- Draft and Place a Tile:
- Choose one tile from the public display.
- Place it on level 1 or higher. Tiles on higher levels must lay flat (use pillars as support if necessary).
- Rules: Tiles cannot be placed on top of dragons or eggs that have not yet hatched.
- Hatch Dragons:
- If a placed tile or pillar covers an egg that has all its required element stones, the dragon hatches.
- Take the corresponding dragon and place it on any empty square in your Dragonarium.
- Move the Assistant:
- Choose one element (fire, water, or air).
- Count the number of squares in your largest domain of that type and move your assistant exactly that many steps clockwise.
- At each step, place one stone of the chosen element onto a matching empty egg space in that row or column.
End of Game & Scoring
The game ends when the supply of territory tiles is exhausted.
- Domain Points: For each of the four types (fire, water, air, royal), score your largest continuous domain:
- Formula: Number of connected squares x Height of the domain (highest level).
- Royal Dragons: Each hatched gold dragon grants an additional 3 victory points.
- The player with the most victory points wins. In case of a tie, the player with the most dragons wins.
