I had the same thing happen in my game (#36429085).

I tried to use the Tribal War card that takes an innovation token from player GNAAB, but it was diasallowed and then like the OP it would not let me make another play with the card and I ended up having to waste the card. I tried to take a level 4 token and I think the programming does not allow “holes” in the opponent’s innovation token tableau. But of course it is completely legal to do so as long as the player of the card has the correct lower level token on which to place the stolen one.

I think I've come across the same bug Table #39102787 move #60. I played Tribal War, did a swap then when I tried to take my opponents innovation tile I tried taking their level 3 tile from the 2nd column and got an error saying something like "you must take the tiles from the top", so I redid my swap and tried to take the level 1 tile from 3rd column and I got the same error. Tried it a few more times with the same error each time so I gave up.

The same thing happened in game #41085994, my last moves (106, 107). I played the card which says you can take another player's innovation tile when swapping. I tried to take their level 1 and the computer wouldn't let me. As other players said above, it said something about having to take the top card which it was. I also tried taking the other players level 4 which was on top of one of their stacks, which I should have been able to take since I had a stack with a level 3 at the top. As "mouldysocks" said above, I tried this several times and got the same message. This was particularly annoying because it caused me to lose the game. Please correct this or give an explanation of the rule.

I don't see any screenshots of this. The game said you can only take top tile, which actually bottom in the online implementation, but top in a sense that its last (biggest) technology of the column. Level 1 would be the bottom so you won't be able to take it. You also have to have space to put it on your column

I Played tribal war to steal opponents innovation tile.(note: I also had War trophies in play) After selecting his tile (a one and top tile) so it would fit on my stack and selecting the tile in the orange slot for moving to that space I received the error: "Must take top tile" (or something like that)

After refreshing and trying a few times I was forced to decline my opponent's tile as the only way to move on with the game.

In move 68 I tried taking tile #1 from opponent's column 3.
