I didn't have any other places I could build one. This was the only spot I had with 2 roads to it that wasn't blocked. It correctly showed that I had 1 house left in my hand just had no option to place it where I should have been able to.

I had two available spots to build a settlement, but it was not an option even though i had all the required resources. Refreshing the game did not solve the problem. I was using the BGA app on my tablet. I also checked on my phone and the same thing was happening on my phone. It would only let me build roads.

The problems appeared several times in the game. I couldn''t build settlement on 3 hex several times, despite having all the resources and no settlement nearby.

During initial setup, I cancelled where I wanted to put my second settlement. Then I couldn’t select the available spot to put it on, until my time ran up. This game is not build for iPad or what? I refreshed and could build a settlement but not a road.

I had the cards required to build a road and it would not let me. Next turn I could build a road but then I couldn’t build a settlement. I ran out of time trying to find a way to achieve it but nothing worked and I was kicked out of the game.

There are six (6) reports on this bug report that some players have not been able to build a Settlement: HTDream (OP), boobookittyfrack, Anatoly Karpov, DopamineAddict, Hartley Ward, and ianireainara78 (and maybe liliboum...?).
From those, only two (2) provide references or screenshots so that the situation can be verified. In both cases, the issue is that they had run out of of Settlements, which is part of the rules. A player cannot have more than five (5) Settlements at any given time.
- HTDream: OP provides a reference to their game (Table #338413117, Move #141). I have followed the log and it is clear that the player had five (5) Settlements already (moves 4, 10, 90, 102, and 116) so they could not build more Settlements until they upgraded at least one of them to a City (which they did for the first time on move 170).
- Anatoly Karpov provides a screenshot to their game. It is evident from it that the player already has five (5) red Settlements, so they could not build more Settlements until they upgraded at least one of them to a City.

In short, this bug report does not report any bugs and should be closed.

No error message, just no option to build a settlement though there was a free space with a tleast two streets distance to everyone. Until now it happened the first time. I use browser Firefox.

I tried building a settlement next to the robber hex but they didn't allow me. Right after my move the opponent was able to build at the same exact spot I wanted to build

During game play, none of the players were able to build a settlement even when they had enough resources. It would only allow us to build roads and never settlements. Couldn’t finish the game.

I was just going to win by building a settlement, I had the resources and I had 9 points, and the play didn't let me build, the location was allowed, but the play didn't let me build. It has happened to me several times and it is not solved by pressing F5

When I have tried to créâtes à Settlement at port 3:1 on top, impossible Even if I try to move thé screen or un zoom It . It seems It’s due to the overlap of the Map icon.

Same as others. I had enough resources to build to possibly win the game. But would not let me build settlement and made me handicap the whole game and I had no choice to keep playing even though I knew I was just going to lose in the end. A slow annoying death because of this bug.

This just happened to me in game 518221569. I had 4 settlements and a city on the board. I had enough resources to build a 5th settlement and a space to do it. My supply showed I had 0 settlements to build.

At table number 523816001, player Rauling was not able to build a settlement even though they should have been able to build one -- the game said that they had no settlements left, failing to account for the settlement that they had upgraded to a city (even though it accounted for that for the rest of us who were playing).

Same thing happened tp me:
1. I had 2 cities and 4 settlements built. giving me one last settlement to build.
2. I had the necessary roads, spaces and resources to build but the game would not let me build my 5th settlement.
3. In my supply box it showed that I had no settlements left available to build, but i should have had one left.
4. I pressed F5 many many times, but it did not fix the situation.
5. Eventually i built another city then I was given one more settlement to build, but I should have had 2 by that time.

Played the add-on city & knights. My friend lose the city due to first barbarians.
Later on he rebuild the city, but was one off on the settlements count.
Is everything correctly counted in case of first city in the add-on that is given free compared to regular game?

In a game with expansion. The game does not let me put my fifth settlement, nor does the token appear in the reserve. Despite complying with the rules, it only allows me to create a new knight in the space at the top right.

Report on issue from my game is there, same situiation, barbarians destroy initial city, when city is rebuilt you do not receive a settlement back.. In my case I built 2 cities and am now down to 3 settlement supply. Affects game play, please fix asap

One of the reports above concerned table #453605196. I looked at the replay and it turns out, the player already had five settlements on the board. That is why the player could not build another settlement despite having the necessary resources and an otherwise valid intersection. Screencap (move 261): snipboard.io/0Ocozu.jpg The player's comment above says, "I lost the [game] because of the bug. It spoiled my statistics. I am a premium member. Fix this stupid bug." That was six months ago. Now when I click on the player's name I see a message stating "This player does not exist (account closed by player or for inactivity)".
It is really a shame that nobody ever explained to the player why the settlement could not be built. If I reported what I believed was a serious bug in a game and nobody ever responded, then I might feel disenchanted with the site and cancel my membership also.

After I had 5 settlements built, I was changed one to the city. And I should have one settlement free in hand to use. But on my list was 0 and icon was gray/shaded. I had all the resources, available place, and game didn't allow me to place anything on the crossroad.

This happened to me as well, during table 549782186; I had 4 settlements and 1 city left, and all of the supplies to build a settlement, but was only given the option to build a knight. During a later turn, I moved the activated knight, and had the option to build a settlement. This only happened once during the game.

I had built all of my settlements before building my first city. But it didnt give me the replaced settlement piece back. So when I tried to build another settlement shortly after the game did not give me the option to build as it did not think I had a free settlement to build, even tho I only have 4 settlements and one city on the board. I refreshed the page multiple times but this did nothing

J’ai joué la carte construction de route et j’avais une route à placer. Lorsque je sélectionne l’emplacement, le message erreur inattendue: Unexpected final game state(50) (référence: GS14 12/10 18:00:50). J’ai essayé le cliqué ici si l’interface est instable ou bloqué ( je joue sur mon iphone11), j’ai fermé BGA, je me suis reconnecté, j’ai appuyé sur annuler mais je reste toujours bloqué à l’étape de sélection de route.

Same issue as reported. Lost my City first time Barbarians attacked. Rebuilt. Did not notice that my settlement count didn't replenish. Went to build my 5th settlement (legal spot, all resources) and nothing happened. No error messages or anything.

Just curious what more info is needed. It is a simple arithmetic bug. It should be as easy as adding some test cases and fix the code so that they pass. Plenty of links to games where it happened have been posted.

Reproduced again. The issue is that when Barbarians pillage a city and turn it back into a settlement, the counters are not correctly maintained. When I tried to build a settlement later in the game, and only had 4 settlements in play, I was unable to.

Also note the message in the log at move 273, which is wrong due to the counter not being correct:

Note that this affected the player winning order, as I would've come in second instead of tying for second in this game.

Same problem and it's not the first time (im blue on screen)
I've built 5 colonies and have 0 available. Then I upgrade a colony in town and the colony doesn't go back into my “bank”. I update, but nothing happens. If you look at my screenshot, you can see that I'm missing a colony, and the next move, i have the resources and the location available but the game doesn't allowed me the “build a colony” action because the game considers that I have none available.

I got to know that when in the situation in the imgur URL above, i wanted to build a 5th settlement at the brick port: there was no option to do that, the game automatically placed a knight instead of a settlement.

This has also happened to me in multiple games. Most recently game #619747569
It seems to happen when I lose a city earlier in the game due to the barbarians, and then continue to build only settlements until I have used all of my settlements. But aster upgrading one to a city the original settlement piece is not returned to my inventory which then blocks me from rightfully building another settlement until I have built a second city

I ran out of settlements, when I upgraded the settlement to city, the settlement stayed hovering on the game board. It didn't go back to supply. After refresh it did, but i could not build it. Opponent had the same thing, just couldnt build the last settlement.

BGA blocked me from building a Settlement on "8 Wood Hex" at the 3:1 Harbor, but allowed me to build roads to location on "8 Sheep Hex" at different 3:1 Harbor & then build a Settlement there.
Not sure if this context matters, but the initial block happened right after I had activated & move the Knight that had been located at the "8 Wood Hex" at the 3:1 Harbor.
So far the problem has only appeared this one time, but it has ruined my "Grand Plan" for Victory...

I've had the same bug before, but it hasn't been fixed yet. The number of settlements I can build since I built my second city hasn't been restored, so I can't build my fifth one. This is a frequent issue, so please fix it.

When I upgraded my first settlement to a city, my settlement disappeared. It never came back. When I upgraded my second settlement, it worked as normal, and my settlement was returned to the supply. I tried to refresh, and even shut down BGA and reloaded. Still the settlement wasn't returned to my supply.

In the game 687014397 I should have gotten my settlement back in move 439 when I upgraded a settlement to a city. In the same move, I wanted to build my fifth settlement again to get my 12th point. Clicked F5 many times, didn't solve the problem and continued to try to solve it for a couple of minutes, but ran in to overtime so I couldn't try much more. Then the game got very stressful, because of my lost time.
Luckily, later I got the merchant, which was my 13th point (including the settlement the game denied me), so I won the game. Although, I had to "abandon" it, because I had already legally had reached the 13 points I needed.
Of course, this "abandoned" game made me lose ranking and reputation. So I'm therefore asking you to at least restore my ranking and reputation and it would be fair if you could give me the victory in this game. As you can see in the chat, the other players understand and agree that there is a bug.

I am experiencing the exact same issue. I have built 1 city and 4 settlements, but am unable to build a 5th. I have an available location. I have refreshed my browser (F5), and checked across multiple other devices and browsers but each has the same issue. In the icons showing what I have available to build, it indicates 0 settlements available. I have now been blocked from doing this across several turns.

I have a screen shot. I was player Green. I had 4 setttlements and 2 cities on the board. But 0 settlements in my inventory. Thus the game refused me to build that last settlement (even when I got the correct resources) it still showed 0 settlements in inventory.

I have the same issue in game 691510868. 4 settlements and one city on board, but 0 settlements left to build. I think the settlement count may have been messed up when barbarians razed one city.

When i told my opponent i could build, that there was a bug

I had 4 settlements on the board
A position was available to build my 5th settlement
The list of available constructions on the right of the screen did not show my 5th settlement
I was not able to built it.
Reload (F5) did not help

Noticed around Move #380 through end of game at Move #413
5th settlement unavailable to Blue player. Refreshing did not help. Blue had 4 settlements built, a position and resources to build a 5th settlement, but the player inventory showed zero settlement tokens remaining.

I had 5 settlements. I built a city, so I only had 4 settlements, but it still showed 0 available settlements remaining so I was unable to build a 5th settlement.

My opponent had 5 settlements. He built a city, so he then should have had 4 settlements on board, one in hand, but it still showed 0 available settlements remaining so he was unable to build a 5th settlement.

It was the day of 1. september 2025.
I relized that I did'nt have any houses left, even tho I just had built a new city on a house.
That house I built as the first house I built myself. The house did'nt return in the menu up left. and there was no option to build house even tho I had space for one and resources to build one.
It was a city that replaced a house in the same move as the barbarians had attacked us, but we won the war.
I also used a harbour to trade ore and I got one ore in the same turn as we where attacked. I had enough grain and a lot of resources (16) when I built the city.
It was game number 723609695 and in turn number 282 and 64% progression.
I think I used edge but it could also have been firefox, it was on a laptop.
I tried to refresh but that did'nt work.

I think I wanted to place settlement a couple of times, but did'nt relized it was a bug before the second time.

To add some information:
There was a city that where destroyed by the barbarians in this game, when I built that up again the settlement should have been available, but was't. I think that same thing happened in the post I wrote about this 6th of sept, but I could'nt find myself that it had disappeared when I went through the game.

I can report the same as everyone here. Had 5 settlements built. Built a city and still had zero settlements to build. When I built a second city, I was able to build just one more settlement. It was move 240 to 250 in that range.

First time I saw it
I moved my activated knight to build a settlement, but there was no option to build one.
Solved: actually you can build a settlement but the location is not flashing to show you that it is available, but it is available.

Impossible de construire une ville alors qu'il y en avait deux de possible toutes les énergies présentes etc..je me suis fait expulsée du jeu a force de rafraîchir la page cela fait la deuxième fois que je me fais expulsée pour cela c'est injuste !🤬

F5 and opening in different browsers, the app, and different devices didn’t help
The other players both have 5 settlements, but the game is only giving me 4. I’d win this turn if it let me build the 5th i should have.
