Thank you for the work on this implementation! I realize there may be technical hurdles to implementing this properly, but it is a bug if the BGA implementation doesn't follow the rules of the game.

You should be able to use GHQ before using the jump. You only can't use it within an action (such as between the build and jump of the Basic Spacefaring action).

What happened when you tried to use it?

This occurred in my current game: researched Planetary-Scale Research, attached the uncovered Galactic HQ to Sol, where I had a lvl 1 and lvl 2 ship. The Galactic HQ highlights along with my ships that can jump. I click Galactic HQ, and a confirm button comes up before I have chosen any ship. I click either ship, and the confirm button vanishes and I'm back in the Jump processing, because suddenly my ship selection is not for GHQ, but for jumping.

Nevermind my report- Galactic HQ can only be on a shipyard system. The board layout is just confusing.

happened to me in boardgamearena.com/7/beyondthesun?table=181402973 around move 99.

The text at the top of the screen even said something to the extent of "Deepspace Megastructres: Galactic HQ: Choose a Ship to Upgrade" and then it highlights a ship there. But if you select the ship it reverts back to "Deepspace Megastructures: Select a Ship to Jump"

Encountered this bug too, table # #188248197, galactic HQ was on earth, I researched Subatomic Building, which allowed me one jump. I tried to upgrade my ship on earth before jumping it but couldn't. Was in a kind of loop with the actions of the researched tech : when proposed to select the ship to jump, I click on the GHQ, then I'm asked to select the ship to upgrade, I click on my ship, and then instead of asking me to confirm my selection, I'm asked which disk I want to automatize, and so I cannot go through the process of upgrade.

Researched a level 3 tech.
Placed the GHQ at a shipyard I controlled
1) Couldn't upgrade immediately after placing. Said "action not available"
Proceeded to place the level three tech which included a Immediate jump action
2) This time I could select the upgrade action, but when I selected the ship it reverted to "choose a destination to jump"

Using Galactic HQ: Unable to choose a ship on SOL.

1) Chose Narrow beam lasers to create a " 2" ship on SOL
2) A "2" Ship appears on SOL
3) I click the Galactic HQ to upgrade
4) The 2 ship disappears when asked to choose a ship
5) (My other ships remain and they aren't highlighted as they aren't on a shipyard)

Another example table#: 206912829, Move #28.
Den77 researched a level 3 and put down Galactic HQ on sol. He wasn't able to upgrade his ship on sol before doing the Jump 1 given by his new level 3 immediate action.

Researched Android Surveyors. During the jump phase, I clicked on Galactic HQ and it asks me to choose a ship and confirm. As soon as I select the ship, that option disappears and it asks me to where I want to jump to without upgrading the ship.

Table #232900282, Move #82 – I'm experiencing this as well. I researched to reveal Galactic HQ and then Wormhole Technology. While executing the immediate effect of Wormhole Tech I am unable to upgrade my new 2-level ship before jumping. In particular, I select Galactic HQ and am prompted to select a ship to upgrade – but clicking the ship moves to the Jump action (from Wormhole Tech).

Galactic HQ acts weird during turn and does not always show the ship as upgraded. Sometimes at end of turn a ship that should be upgraded is not.

This occurred to me at table #260342968, move #64.

I revealed Galactic HQ and had a jump to use later in the turn. At the current point in my turn, I was being prompted to choose a disc to automate. When I clicked Galactic HQ, it prompted me to select a ship to upgrade. However, clicking my ship in the "eastern" shipyard did not upgrade the ship, but instead went back to prompting me to choose a disc to automate.

I tried several variations of the above sequence of actions, but each caused the state to "reset" after clicking a ship to upgrade, going back to whatever it was originally prompting me to do without upgrading the ship.

You should be able to use Galactic HQ at any time during the turn. Including in the middle of an action, including during production.

Instead whenever you click to use it, it undoes your whole turn, so the ship that you need to use it on will disappear because it hasn't been built yet.

I drew Galactic HQ and Wormhole technology on the same turn. I think I should be able to upgrade my ship to level 4 before my jumps of Wormhole. But the interface won't let me (I would pick on the HQ and it says pick a ship, when I pick a ship it would say "wormhole Technology: choose a destination to Jump").

Even if BGA implementation is limited, there is another problem. I used Multi-colony Symposium and got Galactic HQ. Because the action forces me to skip production, it didn't give me a chance to upgrade a ship before the turn is passed to the next player, where it'll normally be allowed even within the limited implementation in BGA.

I have run into this bug several times. Also in 374471488 ran into the same issue as BockBockChicken and was unable to use during production because production was skipped.

The bug still exists. I have struggled with it a number of times. You can only upgrade your ship, prior to placing your worker. If the bug is too difficult to fix program wise, could the text on the card be altered to alert players to the fact that the upgrade must be done prior to worker placement.

Although the BGA limit it,I think we could enable these simple things,which could be better:
--let it can be use even you skip your production phase(Multi-colony Symposium)
--immediately use the effect when reveal it.I think insert this opinion is easy.

Ran into this in game #477420283. Played Galactic HQ while revealing Hivemind Computing, which gave a jump. I wanted to upgrade then jump away, but was not able to, and had to waste the jump.

I've also had the multi colony symposium issue. I never got the opportunity to upgrade, then someone else jumped in before my next turn and upgraded to take control of the system, which shouldn't have been possible if I had been allowed to upgrade already. This part could be solved by just adding a chance to upgrade before ending your turn.

Or maybe part of the multi colony symposium event could be the option to upgrade immediately, if you choose a system with one of your ships in it? That doesn't perfectly implement the rules but should solve all the complaints

Bug is still not fixed. Terrible when wormhole tech combines with galactic hq reveal.

When you try to upgrade the ship, it instead gets overriden by the build ship interface if a ship needs to be built.

I confirm the bug: it happened to me in two different games. I clicked on the event card, trying to enable its effect, but the ship disappeared! I could click cancel but it wasn't possible to upgrade the ship to level 4.

Just happened to me on table 716511175, turn 127.

Event appeared and researched hyperdrive boosters.
Upgrade the ships and clicked confirm.
Clicked galactic hq, upgraded ship and clicked confirm.

Production phase begun but all upgrades were lost.
