Just encountered the Diplomat situation in this 2-player game, and that reminded me why we decided to exclude Diplomat always from 2 player games in real life so many years ago.

BGG threads also seemed to agree that Diplomat is just vastly overpowered in 2-player, as they can easily conquer empty or ancient race regions only, and force the other player to either do nothing or have to attack their own in-decline race.
In short, Diplomat in 2-player is just no fun and probably most of the time just early resign from the other player.

An option to exclude it from 2-player games would be welcome.
