Given that I killed my rover and did undo, and then literally asked what happened to my rover, I'd say warning message would be very useful.

But you have a message saying something like "By placing their new tile, ${player_name} covers and destroys ${nb} rover(s)".

Same for lifepods. I just spent the game placing tiles on every one of them since they looked like they were being collected, only to realise that I was destroying them! I know it's in the rules, but some kind of warning would have been great, particularly for a first-time player.

It is common to place tiles on life pots. No need for annoying warning messages.
It's not great for a first-time player either, unless that player hasn't read the rules. Read the rules. I think it's strange to play without reading the rules and then complain about the warning messages.
The playing interface is not a tutorial.It's okay to enjoy playing while you're still fumbling, but that's not how it was originally intended. Wouldn't it be strange to ask for improvements for the problems that occur in that state?
